I’ve always wondered how the ring system worked when people were getting married. Does the wedding ring end up matching the engagement ring that is given to the woman? Someone explain this! Thanks everyone!

alot of times the wedding band matches the engagement ring but sometimes people choose for them not to. Some people prefer to wear the engagement ring and then once the wedding happens they only wear the wedding band. Others move the engagement ring to the other hand. And some people don’t get a wedding band and just only have the engagement ring. It really just depends on the person and their personality and style.

In the year 2008, do you agree it is still like this? What do you think about a man requesting that his wife wears her rings at all times (week-ends at home too!!!??) but he doesn’t have to? What do you think of a man who says he will stop wearing his wedding ring in public, if the wife doesn’t wear her rings in private too, just for revenge? To me, that’s ridiculous and so "passé". To him, it’s the double standard that he sees as being the right thing. What are your thoughts? When was it ever like this (this double standard)?
OMG, this is too funny. I hadn’t actually thought about it, but yes, I wear my wedding ring 24/7 and he goes without. With his job, he’s not allowed to wear one because he works with "480 V" of electricity, so it would be dangerous. Anyway, he doesn’t wear it when he comes home because it’s gotten a bit "snug" (he says it’s really hard to put it on and off, which is true) and we haven’t had it resized or bought new ones. Anyway, I mentioned to him just now that since he doesn’t wear his, I’m not going to wear mine. OMG! His reaction, too funny! I asked if he would feel hurt if I didn’t wear it, and he said, "No. But that doesn’t matter because you are." Meaning he would be, lol. Anyway, some of my single friends get hit on ALL THE TIME, which I complained about because I never get hit on (not to cheat, just to see if I still have it) and she says that I and my husband both give the "I’m taken" vibe, so I guess that works. Plus, my husband works in what is a mostly male environment. Anyway, interesting subject!

engagement ring or not and just wanted to spread some knowledge and since it wouldn’t let me post a comment to hers im doing it this way….One interpretation states that the woman wears the wedding ring below the engagement ring, thus making it closer to the heart. Another practice holds that the woman should wear the wedding ring above the engagement ring, thus sealing the atmosphere of the engagement into the marriage……so its really just up to the person and preference
Wow you women are asking for TWO rings…one isn’t enough?
Just wear them however you want and which way means the most to you. For these types of questions it is best to go with your own feelings, not other people’s assurances.
